Have you actually seen any in the store yet? I'd like to know what their condition is.

Previous condition was fair-good. They had been used hard for many years.

any and all of the surpluss rifles at big 5 are very well used.

kinda like renting a mule and puting him away wet.

          buyer beware.

I have seen some nice rifles at Big 5 on occasion. I still lament passing up a near mint walnut stocked K-31 for $79! What was I thinking?!

$239 for an Enfield sounds like an awful deal to me!

The last run of Big 5 No.4's were horrible looking. I don't think I would have paid $150 for one of them.

                      Big 5...
Not all their surplus rifles are bad. From time to time they do have nice deals. That being said, the buyer still needs to be aware of what they are buying. Know what you want, and make certain it meets your expectations before committing to the buy.

                      I picked up a pristine M44 from Big5 for $79, I'm very happy.

The Enfield at the Arden Wy. store was in surprisingly good condition compared to the last ones they had... marked "US Property", the wood is a little worn, but the metal has no rust.

                          Yes.....

Many Many moons ago Like 20 years or so Big 5 had some great condition M1 carbines cheap, bought one and ended up selling it thinking I could get another.

They have had great K-31's and K-98's in the last five years.

They had some great rearsenaled Mosins for a while, then they went to krap, then recently they got some more nice ones. Six months ago I was at the Vallejo store and looked at a M91 and three M44's and I was shocked that one of the M44's looked unissued-but more to the point looked original and not rearsenaled with that crazy electric pen stencilling. It had not rust/pits that were blued over though the bluing was 98%. The stock lacked that thick shellac that filled in all the crevices and small metal parts on the stock and had no cartouches on the stock (the one thing I wish it did have). Though I am not an expert I did believe it was in original manufactured condition without the post WWII re arsenal job. I came close to buying it even though they were not on sale that week and it was like $179 I think. A couple of months later when they were on sell and I was going to the Vallejo gun show I went back to the store and that beauty was gone!

The problem with Big 5 is the junk just stays and stays and stays. My local Big 5 has had like the same 4 beat up old Milsurps for over a year. One has been there I think three years. They take up space and prevent that store from buying replacements that maybe in great condition.

                            I bought a 98/22 from Big5 a year ago

BRNO version of Gew98 that had a good bore and good wood. It took me a week to sweat the cosmoline out of the stock. Price $90
