    Range rounds for Mosin

    Probably been asked before..

I have the MFS (Zinc) and Wolf 148gr Bimetal.

Who makes a round that I can use for a range that doesn't allow Steel?
I have run across Winchester, but what brand and what to look for when purchasing for a newbie?

For the price that you would pay for range safe rounds over the lifetime of your weapon you might be better off finding another range that will allow the magnetic ammo. I don't know if there are any where you live but .20ish/round vs nearly $1ish/round adds up. FWIW Unless you reload of course

Also is it steel core specifically or just magnetic ammo? Bimetal ammo would not be allowed at most ranges down here in SoCal.

The two Ranges that are local to Central Cal have specific rules stating:
Steel core, steel jacketed or bi-metal ammunition is not allowed.
Since they state they can require a magnetic test (if it sticks-not allowed) and both of my brands stick, I'm not going to try it.
I did find some Winchester soft points tonight, yet at a price that would make me think strongly about finding another range

Are you near any BLM territory? If not, check with your local ranges to see if they allow steel core/bi-metal during the wet season (which it won't be for several months).

You sure about that? I thought they had a fire a few years ago and nixxed magnetic stuff. I know rahaauges allows everything that is legal.

If I am incorrect about West End let me know, that is all that has been keeping me from joining for a few years now.

Every good option is sold out or highpriced at this time so unless you squirreled away some stuff youre going to have a hard time

Privi Partisan x54r was the best over the counter option when it was in stock

other than that its reload or mexican match

Sorry, that is the 'Ricigliano East' Compound, highly secretive location of my command and control centers. Guarded by black helicopters, sentries, attack turtles, and a 50' Moat filled with sharks with lasers.
