Garand Oprod

I was happily shooting away with a newly arrived SG fed with HPX. Suddenly, I got a stuck case and the oprod handle jumped tracks. The recoil did not feel abnormal. After waiting 30mins for the gun to cool, I had to use my foot to press (no, I didn't stomp on it) the handle and work the bolt back. The case looked fine with no obvious signs of over pressure.

After putting the oprod back in the tracks, the action works normal and passes tilt test. After removing the oprod, I found the corner where the bolt lugs engage the oprod has chipped, apparently from the handle jumping tracks.

This is a "new" one from CMP, and using CMP ammo. What do you think? Would they send a replacement oprod? Has anyone else experience this with HPX?

If you just got it from CMP I would send CS an email and they will make it right. They will either send you a shipping label for the op rod to the rifle and send you a good one. OR could be bent our the tab is out of spec.

Why would you ask CMP for help?? You had a ammo issue that made the Op Rod jump the track.
Its not a issue for CMP to fix.

I have seen lots of op rods with similar mark,, just keep using it,, not a big deal.

First thing I did when I got it was grease it. Properly. I wiped it off for the photo.

I'm thinking that mark and sharp corners might rub against the bolt lugs and cause damage?
