    Steyr Bayo Issue

I picked this bayonet for my Steyr M95:
(It's not in the best of shape but not bad - and I didn't pay a lot for it either)

However it when I tried to put it on it wouldn't go on, I looked at the bayo lug and didn't see anything unusual:

So I thought there might be some gunk and there was some but not a lot. However after cleaning it, I saw this:

Sorry for the sort of blurry pic's - had to use my ipod (couldn't find my good camera)

It doesn't look like it moves, so what can I do?
I was thinking about taking a small file and seeing if I can file that bad boy down. I realize that Steyr M95 were rearsenaled (from a long gun to a carbine, so the bayo lug may be the wrong one but I can't tell - doesn't look like it)
    Suggestions welcome!

FYI - I put this on another forum and someone said this:
I believe that's part of the lock/latch the button on the outside to the right of what you circled should push in and it should slide in and lock on the bayonet lug...some of my bayonets fit a little tighter than others...but the locks/pushbuttons move.
However I didn't see a push button any where on the handle.

Don't file it, just keep looking for a way to fit it in.

The protruberance next to the feature in question is the release button. It should move (spring loaded) but is probably gunked up solid with old cosmoline/grease. Shoot it with some penetrating oil and see if you can work it loose.

I can see the push button on your handle - it's already pushed in.

You need to push the bayonet catch in from the right side, then try to unscrew the push button from the left. Everything may be rusted in place or hammered and beaten so it's peened. And the push button spring may be broken, missing, or lost tension. So act carefully and accordingly.

Once you have solved the problems with the push button and the catch stud, you will then have to very, very, very carefully file the bayonet lug on our rifle until the bayonet will just - and fairly tightly, you don't want any wobble or other motion - fit on and latch.

This is a common problem with Steyr M95's and their bayonets - each lug and bayonet are often a little different and won't fit each other without work on the lug. Don't mess with the bayonet! These things are kind of like Mosins in that regard - just because a bayonet came with a rifle or is even number matching to it doesn't mean it fits without a little judicious and well-thought out modification.

No button on the side; it looks like it's hammered/flatten down.

It's hard to make out the fine details in these pics, however, little about this bayonet seems right. The pommel is too long, the grip scales aren't right, the blade profile is off, bizarre press stud that doesn't seem to work, . . . I'm wondering if it may be a Chinese fake of some sort.

No - I have tried everything but it won't move.
Going to Home Depot and get a small rat- file.
