Well Eddie it depends on what is being sold. There are quite a few special Mosins worth $400 namely for collector value. Big 5 Mosins vary in quality and the ones I've seen do not have matching part numbers.

I have paid over $400 for a mosin... and felt I got a good deal

I am currently selling a different mosin for $450. Then again it is a Sako M39.

          Agree - If it's a reg 91-30, however isn't that the price a 91-30 sniper?

I have picked up my M44 (perfect condition all matching), an good condition all matching hex mosin, and a good condition all matching non-hex mosin at big 5 for under a $100 each. They can be found there.

Eventually, the price of the Mosin will have to creep up due to inflation and/or supply cjain disruptions.

Really... which Big 5 currently has those in stock at those prices? Is it the one in "Hill Valley?"

I've got an 1887 Swedish NAGANT revolver that's worth more than $400 to me. Oh, you're talking about Mosin-Nagant rifles. why didn't you say so in the title? While I personally don't have any use for them and have sold the 4 I use to own, some arre worth a hell of a lot more than that. Think about it, some Ford Mustangs are worth about $300 in scrap value while some are hitting the 6 figure mark at high end auctions.

You'd have to PAY ME to haul off a Mustang II..

Mosins are good rifles, Some are worth 400 or more, But not your big 5 91-30 Special.

Guns are all worth what someone will pay for them.

If it's a sniper model that would actually be a pretty decent price.

I seriously doubt they'll be $89.99 ever. Pre-panic prices at Big 5 was $179 reg and $129 on sale. I should know I bought one right before the panic at sale price.

I also doubt long gun registration will affect sales of mosins. Granted their may be a few people who wont buy a mosin after 1/1/2014 to keep "off the radar" but I would bet anything that they are the very very small minority. If someone wants a mosin theyll buy a mosin. Chances are if youre buying a mosin you have a handgun that is registered so what does it matter???
