    M43 Spanish Mauser

    Double rifle day!

M43 Spanish Mauser arrived today too. Looks like it's stamped 1950. Stock has a shiny finish, bolt has a turned down handle. It's missing the rear sight, as one of the previous owners drilled and tapped it for scope mounts. Real happy with it, and looking forward to shooting.

Anyone know if Samco's M24 accessory kit will work with this?

I think so, I found it over on the CMP bolt action for sale forum. I'm impressed by this guy, it was boxed up just right so it wasn't punching holes in the sides during transit and he threw in some spent brass.

So far all I know is it's a M43 Spanish Mauser chambered in 8mm. I can't find much about M43s besides being made by a Spanish company. As far as I can tell, it's a 98k copy. It also has two different bayo lugs to attach two different types of bayonet. The magazine follower looks different too, as I understand the 98k has a hold open follower so the operator knows that was the last shot. This one is ramped, and will close on an empty magazine. It's also got a bent handle bolt, not sure if that was original or added later. Either way, $150 shipped to my door is a steal.

I wonder if Bubba was humming the "Dueling Banjos" theme from "Deliverance" while he aszed that rifle up.

a Spanish M43 was my first center fire rifle, bought when I was 17 years old. My dad flipped out when I told him I had it. It introduced me to (1)recoil and (2)corrosive ammo and bore rusting.

Nice rifle! I paid $35 for mine in 1971.

It has a Ricchieri Adapter on the bayo lug for a 1893 bayo. You have to knock the pin out, and slide it off for it to take a 98K style bayo. The 24/47 bayo may or may not fit, I still haven't figured why.
I think I have a rear sight and spring for that, you pay shipping and I'll send it to you.

Just a thought, you might want to make sure that they didn't drill all the way into the chamber while drilling the front scope mount...
