    Percussion rifle question

I'm looking at a Lyman Great Plains percussion rifle. I'm left handed and have never had a problem shooting right handed rifles and shotguns but I know nothing about black powder.

Am I asking for trouble shooting a right handed percussion rifle left handed?

I don't think there'd be any trouble, but you might be able to find a left-handed Lyman.

These folks http://www.bbarytraders.com/guns-n-s...w/lymangp.html are really nice to do business with. They have a wide variety of the BP stuff that you can't find but on the internet. Go check them out and enjoy the nice drive. It's only about a hour and a half from Elk Grove. They also have on hand "Goex" FFFg black powder. That is where I buy BP goodies. And you are making a good choice on a Lyman Great Plains Percussion. They are very accurate rifles. I should know, I also have a .50cal Lyman Great Plains percussion. Keep us up to date on your quest.

You can't go wrong with the Lyman Great Plains. The do make a lefty version, both cap and flint. Make sure you get the right twist for the bullets you are shooting. The slower twist for round balls and the faster for hunting bullets, sabots, etc.

You might look at the top view - ("view 3") stocks on muzzleloaders are typically sided since they are kind of annoying to shoot on the wrong side (especially flintlocks).
