    Romanian m44 mosin nagant

I just traded for this 1954 Romanian M44 nagant carbine. The finish was polished away by the previous owner as you can see. There are a few thing I wonder about this mosin like the fact that there are no import markings and there are a few other markings that I am unfamiliar with. The markings in the third picture are a K in a circle and a O in a circle. There are no markings on the left side of the receiver except the #. What do you guys think? Also would it help or hurt the value to get it re-blued?

Circle k = point of aim... concentric cicrles = accuracy

Nice rifle but it is too bad that Bubba got a hold of it and dripped Devil's snot all over it and took all of the bluing off.

It reminds me of my '53 Hungarian, Bubba got a hold of mine too, but the metal is immaculate and it is a great shooter as I am sure your Romanian will be.

Ah there it is. Ive never seen an import marking there.
Does anyone know of anyone in San Diego that refinishes guns decently cheap?

              Wow.. bubba be pimpin!

That thing is in a bad need for the wood to be stripped and recoated with the proper finish; shellac. And then a reblue... but I don't know if its worth it to go to all that trouble as it will never be original even if its original looking..

Well I guess I will make this my shooter mosin. I dont really care about originality with this one much considering what I traded for it. I can live with the stock in its current condition but I'm not too fond of the finish.

Sheesh, Bubba and the wirewheel did a number on that one. Really dumb if the bolt is matching which is harder to find on Romanians.

                  No collector value anymore

The serial on the receiver was stamped by the importer, that was commonly done on the earlier rifles

Don't get me wrong, it will probably still be a great shooter and a lot of fun; that's a given.

You could allways claim its an ultra rare parade version, lol

So as I am inspecting the mosin I noticed that when cocked the trigger can be pushed forward as if not cocked. It still fires but is that normal?

Yea that's pretty normal for a Mosin Nagant. Some are tighter and don't do that and some loose ones (especially war time) flop around like crazy.

You could get an aftermarket trigger spring to put some rearward pressure on it...
But really its a non issue.
