    mosin buy...

I am going to buy a Mosin from a fello CG'er and need to know how to inspect one... I have a general idea from reading this section.

Also he has a C&R license and I don't.. How would that work? Do i have to DROS it?

    Thanks for the help.

You give him cash money, let him make a copy of you're drivers license. And swear you can legally own a firearm. Then take it home.

For inspection, I generally like to take a good long look down the barrel(with bolt removed) I carry around an unloaded round on my keychain to get an idea of how tight the crown is. And then see if there are any marking on the rifle that strike my fancy. Obviously looking for rust or damaged wood of any kind.

A thorough inspection of a Mosin requires full disassembly to check for rust and pitting under the handguard and inside the stock. Such a request is rarely granted, especially for a first time Mosin buyer.

Here's a video on Youtube. It'll point you in the right direction.

        seriously guys?
just ask to inspect the rifle, load a few rounds into the rifle and fire em off up into the air 'LA style'.

...if it fires, buy it...and drive home REAL fast
If you suck with irons you will suck with optics. The difference is the aimpoint will allow you to suck faster and a scope will give you a closer look at how much you suck.
AR's have finally become full blown "men's barbie dolls" now with fashion accessories.
