K98 what is it worth?

Recently I was offered a K98 for 350 dollars but was able to talk the seller down to 300. It is a 1943 year rifle with an AR marked receiver which works out to being manufactured by "Mauser, Borsigwalde- "ar" 43" is completely numbers matching, has original Nazi swastika markings, the barrel, rifling, and crown look like it has never been fired. BUT the previous owner refinished it...
I know that immediately takes away from its value but it was excellently done. The stock has been cleaned and re-varnished and the entire rifle was parkerized. It is not a Mitchell's Mauser abomination and it also lacks import marks. It is a beautiful rifle and according to the PO's wife (PO died friend of the family is helping wife sell the collection) the PO was planning on taking one of his really nice K98s and making it into a shooter and that's how this rifle ended up like this. Also he offered me both the K98 and a Yugo M48 for 600 flat, with around 200-400 rounds of 8mm surplus depending on it being 30s 50s or 70s manufacture. I got the chance to handle the M48 as well and it is in unmolested numbers matching state and is in 100% condition. Looks like it was made yesterday. Crown,bore, action, and rifling look spectacular.

So would 600 for both rifles be a ripoff or should I just buy them before they disappear and get to getting the cosmo out of the m48 and enjoying them both?

Based on what you have posted, definitely not a "rip off". The question really is "is it a good deal".

Hard to say without more information and pictures. If it is a Russian capture, then it is probably a fair deal although not a steal. If it is an all-matching K98, it is probably a good deal, although again, not a steal.

If you can take some pictures and get some additional information, it would help

Its not a Russian capture, I handled it but forgot to take pictures. Everything from the magazine plate to the buttplate is matching, and it isn't scrubbed, still has all of its original markings. I'll post a picture tomorrow when I get home. Would I be better off buying both rifles or just the k98?

Parkerizing...bleh. It definitely looks refinished. Would still be a fun shooter though.

I wouldn't pay $600 for both unless it came with a good amount of ammo.

If it is a 1943, it isn't all matching. IIRC the flat buttplate was phased out in 1940-41. The mismatched stock, and complete refinish are a value killer from a collector standpoint, but it still could be a good shooter.

If it were me, I'd take just the M48 and the ammo, but if you want a "shooter" K98 this one would fit the bill.

$600 is fair for both rifles and the ammo. The Yugo is worth $250-300, ammo another ~$100.

Thanks for the input guys! I just want a shooter. I think he'll throw in about 400 rounds or so. Either way should be fun.

Not a collector just want a shooter. He has other matching k98s that are definitely untouched but considering I wanted a shooter and offered the ammo and the M48 I figured 600 wouldn't be too bad. The K98 does look great though ( and by great I mean all the key areas. Bore,crown, action all look great, and it even had a pretty darn good trigger)

The swastikas are probably fake if its been refinished
