(say for father-in-law on xmas or whatever) i did a search but couldn't find any definitive answer for this. my packet hasn't arrived yet ,so maybe it's covered there. if this has been covered extensively my apologies to the duplicate nazis.

c&r as gift

You can give away C&R firearms from your collection as gifts as long as you follow all the rules for dispostions.
But you can't order a C&R firearm with the intent of giving it to somebody else. You can only acquire C&R firearms with the intent of adding them to your collection. If you receive a C&R firearm and it just isn't up to your standards, or if you have a C&R firearm in your collection that you no longer want, then it's perfectly fine to dispose of it from your collection.
It's all about intent.__________________

IIRC, it depends on the firearm, the state of residence of the receiving party, and where the transaction takes place.
for example: if it's a rifle over 50 years old, you can give it to damn near anyone (assuming they aren't felons or something).
But if it's a pistol, it *must* go through a 01 FFL if you are in the state...

while you're definitely on the right track, i'm not sure if that's entirely correct. I'll have to dig around, but I seem to remember reading something that says the "infrequent purchasing of firearms as gifts is permitted," so long as you're not "conducting business." I'll see if i can find it...You can give away C&R firearms from your collection as gifts as long as you follow all the rules for dispostions.

100% ok. Just make sure to add his info the your bound book. Just in case there is any confusion you don't need anything to transfer the movie
