      Very Nice!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

I wouldn't even think of shooting BP through that, use TrailBoss, much cleaner. I just noticed those are REAL stag grips too, another plus! The 1st Gen cyl that came in mine is stamped 432, makes me wonder about the gun it came from.
Here, practice up on your fast draw, cause you know you will.

Ok - so when I looked at this the first thing I thought was its faked. That serial number was way too low for the blue to be that good - that serial number is just a few thousand above the very coveted 7th cav guns. The marking on the barrel also kind of threw me off, as I recognized the typeface from my Colt New Service which I know was re-barreled in the 40's (this was my great grandfather's) and converted from 455 webley to 45LC (I have the original barrel somewhere).

Your single action is a beautiful gun - I've often thought about having this new service re blued. I'll never get rid of it just because of the family history - and my grand father was a brinks guard, so this was his daily wear service revolver for 20+ years? If I have it redone it will probably be in better condition than he ever had it in, as it was a WWI British gun, probably picked up for cheap.

Anyway I love the SA/DA revolvers, I can't hit a damn thing with them, but I just love the way they look and feel - congrats on your purchase.

Yep, real Stag. Even have a makers label inside. I can snap pics of that, but it is a red oval ring with a yellow makers logo in the center. A 432 stamped cylinder, now that is cool. It could have very well been with Custer. One interesting thing about a first gen Colt is that the all matching ones are all matching for only two reasons, they were stolen by the Cavalry trooper or captured by the Indians. Now that history will really make you think.

How positive are you on the Trailboss being safe? I'd prefer to go that route, but only if both me and the gun look the same as before. I'm pretty ugly, but the gun isn't, and both of us are interested in keeping all our working parts...well...working.

Yikes. I just looked at what the leather and the Stag Grips are worth. I pretty much got the rest of the gun for a really nice lunch.

That's what I been tellin ya! Now you know why I called you a thief!
TrailBoss is pretty much dummy proof (probably why I like playing with it), you can compress a load and still not exceed pressure limits. Makes great subsonic rifle loads too.

I had entertained thoughts of restoration for a second, maybe two. This thing needs to stay as it is.

The former owner is looking for the original bill of sale for the entire rig. He thinks he paid $200 for it in about 1960, which strangely is $1555.55 today. Just looked it up.

Sold back to us for $7.50 right after the war. The US guberment almost put Colt and S&W in bankruptcy selling the Model 1917's after WWI. When they were in the contract deal with Smith for the Victory Models, that was part of the deal that they couldn't sell them like that back to the public. That's why thousands of Victory Models went through the crushers.
