I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but I was thinking about going to the Del Mar gun show next month and was wondering if C&R guns like mosins are cash and carry? Thanks.

C&R gunshow question
Tags: None -
C&R long guns at least 50 years old (actual date of manufacture; not design) are cash & carry from a private party. From a gun dealer, they must be DROS'ed.
This is true whether you have a C&R FFL or not.
All handguns must be DROS'ed through a dealer.
For antiques (actual date of manufacture 1898 or earlier), long gun or handgun, cash & carry.
All muzzleloaders, cash & carry, except a few in-lines that use the same receiver for modern ammo with a barrel swap.

IMHO - Gun shows (generally) C&R's are over-priced. Being that said once a great while you'll find a honest person who has decent prices."The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke speech of 23 April 1770, "Thoughts on the Cause of the Present Discontents," delivered to the House of Commons.Comment

C&R gunshow question
You have to know what you are looking at/for and you have to know what it might be worth...and what you are willing to pay. If you are prepared, then you will have no problem. Up here in Northern California, C&R dealers/Private Party Sellars usually will remember you & negotiating to a fair price is your job...Comment

I would be very careful of any offer to sell you a gun cash and carry unless you were extremely sure it met the requirements. With all the anti gun stuff going on an undercover operation at a gun show is very likely. I'd be even more worried about selling anything I wasn't sure was over 50 for the same reason.Comment

WTH? If you're talking about an 01FFL, as in a dealer, then NO they will not sell cash & carry. I've encountered some very stupid dealers and even the dumbest ones know that is illegal. If they have a firearm logged in their books, they MUST log it out, period. The only way to log it out is by performing a DROS or logging it out to another 01FFL. There's no lee-way, they can't do something different "if they want to". There's a paper trail for a reason.NRA Life Member - CRPA Life Member - NRA Certified RSO - USN Veteran
I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.
