CMP 7.62 Garand Reciever

I was thinking about ordering one and had some questions.

Has anyone ordered one?

WHat condition was it in?

All I would need if I got the one with the barreled receiver would be the stock and trigger group right?

From the sound of it you'll also need the bolt - op-rod - gas cyl - sights - etc etc

If it is a barreled receiver you need the gas cylinder, lock, plug, and front sight mounted on the gas cylinder and retaining screw for the sight along with the stacking swivel and screw; front and rear handguards with metal, operating rod, spring, and guide; bolt with firing pin, extractor, ejector and springs and related hardware, complete trigger group, bullet guide, accelerator, pin, follower, follower arm, clip latch, clip latch spring, rear sight assembly with cover, butt stock, butt plate with two screws, rear swivel, front swivel with screw, stock front cap....I feel like I'm forgetting something.

You have a lot to gather with a barreled receiver only.

I got one, and it was in good condition. WW2 receiver, serial number around 890K or so, and a lot of them seem to be in or near that serial number range. Black park, barrel gauged good at about a 1+ on each end. Conversion was done by HRA.
Chambers are cut to 7.62NATO dimensions, not 308WIN. To get it to head space right, you need a -19, -2, or series "65" bolt. "65" bolts are supposed to be the longest, meaning shortest headspace.
I used a NIW series "65" (commonly called a post war bolt), and it headspaced right at 1.634". Right at the NO GO for 308WIN, but fine for 7.62NATO. So, it is safe for both. Bolt just closed, with no wiggle.
To finish the rifle, I stole parts off my son's -06 Garand. No big deal, since he immediatly laid claim to the Navy anyway.
We have test fired it, and it functions great, actually more reliable than my son's Bush barreled M14 style rifle. Recoil is less than that of a 30-06 Garand.
I like it so much, I have just submitted an order for another one.
You need ALL the parts to finish one. All they have is a barrel mounted to a receiver. But that really isn't a big deal. That means you can spread your parts hunting out. Or, buy a rack or field grade at the same time that you buy the Navy receiver, and transfer all the parts over to finish, and then sell what you have left.

I might have to go that route and buy a rack grade and the reciver instead of taking down my other rifle.
