Define "upgrade"? There are Vasteras micrometer rear sights available which require no mod's to your rifle. they look like this.

    Poke'm with a stick!

This one of my M96 is a lot better than the Vasteras as it has windage.

Get a set of Diopter sights. They take the M96 Swede to a new level.

I would not DT an M96 receiver unless it is already done.

Nice sight, but it's rare and costs big $$$

There are quite a few diopter rear sights which can be installed on Swedish Mausers. The issue is in order to install them you need to drill and tap the rear receiver bridge. Not real good if you want to keep it original . Here are a few pic's of just some of the Diopter's available.

Thanks. You are right it is pricey as it cost me almost as much as the rifle and a heck of a lot harder to find. I like this Karl Axel Vilhelm Tunheden sights better than my other M96 with an M58 sight. They are now making copies of the Tunheden sight in Germany for $168 Euro or $226. http://shop.sportarms.com/index.php?...hk=1&Itemid=27

I think I'm going to invest in mojo sights just to step it up a little bit

SVT- I assume those sights would work OK on an M-96, but it appears the ones in the picture are made for an M-38, correct?

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.
