    C&R Question

    I got a question:
I got a email from a person, he doesn't have a C&R License and wants to a couple of firearms though me. I remember this was discussed a while ago but I can't find the thread. My assumption it is a can't do that - legally.

If you have a C&R FFL (Type 03-FFL), you can not use it to acquire C&R firearms for other people.

03 is for collecting, but you are allowed to sell part of your collection now and then. However, I am not familiar with selling long guns in California to people who also do not have an 03.

      Anyone have the answer?

But you can buy C&R guns for your own collection and then sell the ones you don't want.

So if your friend Dave comes up to you and says "Jim, will you use your C&R to order me that Chinese SKS?", that's a no-no.

But if you order a Chinese SKS FOR YOUR COLLECTION and then decide you don't like it or need the funds for another rifle, you can legally say "Hmmm, as I recall, my friend Dave wants one of these, I'll see if he wants it." That's o.k.

It's all about your intent when you initially ordered the gun.

Right now, you can sell a C&R long gun that is at least 50 years old to another Californian who, is at least 18 years old and not prohibited, as a private party sale without that person needing a C&R license or going through that azz-licking Marxist DROS bullschitt.

That all changes January 1 of next year. So everyone should stock up on friendly C&R rifles now.

That's what cracks me up with these boneheads who do a "group buy" with their C&R license. They try to justify it by saying they are bettering their collection, but collecting money in advance seems to point to the obvious conclusion that their INTENT is to sell many/most of the rifles. I realize they claim that they get to select the best rifles and discard the rest, but if they went to J&G and picked the rifles up in person, they could have picked through them there and not needed to buy 6+ crates. Sure seems like a risky thing to do with very little benefit.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.
