    S&W Revolver Info Needed

I recently aquired a Smith and Wesson .22 LR revolver and I am hoping someone can give me some info on it. It has an aluminum frame and cylinder, flat latch, 3.5" or 4" barrel. Serial number 14XXX. I think it is a pre model 43/32 kit gun but I'm not sure. Anyone know the manufacture date or any other info? Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, but I know this forum well enough to know you are going to get asked for pictures. My kit gun is in stainless, not aluminum, with a 4" barrel. I am not sure what the model is...all I know is that I love the gun. Is it a J-frame?

It is either a Model 43: The 1955 .22/.32 Kit Gun Airweight

      or a Pre-Model 43: 1955 .22/32 Kit Gun Airweight.

Is the serial number found on the butt, cylinder face, yoke, right grip and barrel flat? Is the cylinder counterbored, 6 shot & fluted?

      I say with a serial # of 14xxx it; s a pre-Model 43 around 1956 IMHO.

Serial number is on the butt, cylinder face, yoke, and bbl flat. I could not find any numbers on the grip. The cylinder is counter bored, 6 shot, and fluted. The number on the butt, cylinder face and bbl flat are different than the number on the yoke and on the frame inside the cylinder. There is also a P stamped into the frame inside the cylinder.

Look on the frame behind the cylinder crane, the model number might be stamped there, my M651 and M60 are both marked there.
