Seen any Nagant Revolvers, Tokarevs or Makarovs Locally?

    Hi All,
Cross posting this from the Handgun forum. Not enough coffee today, should've been here in the first place.

Been researching the Russian Surplus handguns, all three look interesting. Basically the Russian S&W, Colt 1903 and PPK respectively it would seem to me.

A nice Nagant revolver would be something I'd like to have simply for it's design etc. After watching the disassembly of one, I thought. I like that. Some serious thought went into the design.

The other too would be good to have too. Prefer the Tok cartridge, but the Mak looks like a more practical pistol to actually carry, and doesn't have to modified to come into the country. (Though I guess one can buy a new Zavasta Tok these days if one really wanted.)

Anyone seen any in South OC as of late?

I keep reading of $100 Russian pistols "everywhere" and never see any. Has Obama scared them all off the shelves?

(Seems like I'm batting 1000 on my wish list, haven't seen any of them, LOL! Not being a C&R I can't really order them direct, but would really rather look them over first. I like collectibles but prefer that every one I own can actually be used as a reliable gun first and foremost.)

Anyway, most interested in the Revolver at the moment, followed by Tok then Mak last. Would like to finds someplace that has them around. Would like to actually handle them and see what I think.

There was 2 nagant revolvers at the ventura gun show last weekend. At the low low price of $400.

I think it's odd that we don't see more of them, but I guess the gun shops would rather deal in $500+ firearms than these Nagants for $100 each... who knows. It's the same with Surplus Mosins, there are maybe 2 stores within 50 miles of my house that have a regular supply in stock, not counting Cinco-Grande.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I have never seen any in the Sac area. Been looking for one for a while now. Good luck on your search. It's a shame C&R holders in CA can't just order one like everyone else.

Turners Oxnard has P64's last week if you are in for one of those.

I saw a Tokarev at On Target in Lake Forest, but it was pricey. I think it was $350 or $399. I think you wont find any $100 pistols in orange county.

Huh, fill me there, even after years living here, I'm just now figuring out the firearms rules.

                    What's the hangup?

Was really looking forward to the challenge of trying to reload the gas seal round for the Nagants.

Can't say why exactly, other than it just seems like a neat piece of 19th centuyr design and build.

Same of the Toks... the idea of crafting rounds from 5.56, I just find intriguing.

Oh yeah, agreed. Especially since litte of current manufacture in that range attracts me. I I tend to believe they are inexpensive because of supply and the round... as opposed to "designed to a price point".

So yes, up to a point a few bucks either way isn't too important, and to extent I can afford it and it's reasonable, I'll always pay for the better example. The idea is to keep it for the duration.

C&R holders in California can only order long guns direct, handguns we can drive out of state, bring them in and register them within 5 days. Ammo Bros used to have them, not sure if they still do.

In CA if you have your FFL03 you can order C&R rifles and have them delivered right to your door.

In other states the FFL03 works for C&R pistols sent to your door as well. In CA it does not.
Being a Federal licence when you are out of CA you can still pickup pistols on it though.

Anyone can have one sent to an FFL01 as C&R pistols are roster exempt but the problem is FFL's charge big fee's for out of state transfers generally. That and you have to find one that is 1 just willing to do any out of state transfer and 2 one that understands that they are roster exempt

Oh, OK, just the usual. Nothing specific to this arm.

I think I was on Bud's and there was a blurb about, "This gun doesn't ship to Ca."... was beginning to think they were ruled out (or just not ruled in) for some reason.

Ammo Bros was selling Nagant 1895s last year. Check with them if they have any or can get any.
