    How to display a Garand?

I am going to order an M1 from CMP soon. One of the things that I would like to do with my Garand other than shooting is to display it on my "I love me" wall . Any ideas? I think I will build a display case, maybe have some old picture of me from 1977 carrying it. :-) displayed in the case. I need to check with my classmates if they have any other pics. Have sign on the glass that says non-working rifle to calm down the guests and fend off the thieves. What should I remoce to make it non functional with changing its exterior look?

    Give me ideas......

Sportsman's Guide sells rifle display cases and while I don't support SG, you can probably find similar case all over the internet. It was basically a lockable wooden box you mount on the wall with a glass front and a green velvet (or whatever material) back.

                    Here's one.

                        This.

The best way to display it is, get a sling, coat, mat, and spotting scope, and head to your local range/club/whatever and wring it out on the national match course.
Post your location, and I can find a find you a place to shoot it right.

Another +1 to this. There is something really special about being on the firing line with 10-15 other people and their Garands/'03s/etc all firing at the same time...especially when you get the PING!

To my knowledge, there aren't any laws about lying on a display case sign...

If you had to, the easiest way to render it non-functional is to disassemble the bolt, and put the empty bolt body back into the rifle. The only indication that something's not right is the fact that the extractor and ejector will be missing.

MrTokarev provided the first answer. I think I would be able build a display case that looks like the rifle case in that link.
I would also like to thank CrippledPidgeon for the information on how to make it non-functional.

I asked my classmates if they have any pictures of us showing the M1 while we were carrying to include in the display case. The first response that I received was that if I lost my mind. I am crossing my fingers that someone will come up with a picture. That would be cool.
