AIM M44 with no date

Hi guys,

So I just received my M44 from AIM. So far very happy with it, however, I wish a little more info was left on it. Anyhow, the CCCP crest, Izzy/Tula and date (et. al) have been scrubbed or were never there. How can I find out the date and place of manufacture? Is this rare to find a scrubbed receiver? I've never seen Russian with a scrubbed receiver, but I admittedly have not seen as many as you guys. Thanks all.

Yes it is unusual. Sometimes you can find the receiver date under the tang

Wide or narrow front sight base? As I recall, they went to the wide on after Ww2, sometime in 1945.

The "receivers" never had date or arsenal info stamped externally. That info is / was stamped into the barrel in front of the receiver. The bottom of the rear receiver tang may have a date as indicated above.

Post a photo of the barrel in front of the receiver and behind the rear sight.

The 1944 tula m44's were often made from recycled actions. Frequently scrubbed and restamped.

Scrubbed...haven't seen that on a M44 before. I'm betting it's an Izhevsk based off the font of the serial number. Check the receiver tang.

Yea almost certainly Izhevsk with the 'Y' proof there. Its a real unusual one there


found another one.. scrubbed m44 Izhevsk... looks more like a ground arisaka mum
