Inland M1 Carbine at Big 5

Was by the Big 5 in Rancho Santa Margarita today and saw that they have an Inland M1 carbine, dated 4-44. Cost was $999. Was in OK shape. Any other sightings at a Big 5 near you?

Also one in Sunnyvale. Didn't see what type, but it was $999 as well. Mgr said he only got one, and it was a clearance item.

I was surprised by the price compared to the condition. We have my Wife's Grandpa's Underwood from Okinawa. It is in great condition...Just had to find an Underwood oiler to make it complete. Would love to have another for my Son and me to plink with. We shoot Gramp's carbine about twice a year...getting nervous that we may damage it.

I made it down to our closest (80 miles) Big 5 last weekend and they had one on the rack for that price which also looked like crap. As i'm standing at the counter I hear a employee talking to another in the corner office about a guy that came in, saw the price and proceded to laugh in the salesmans face.
When he came out I asked if he actuialy had sold any. He said yes and then told me that it was a good deal as they were goin for 2500.00 elsewhere. At that point I started laughing, told him the going rate was probably closer to 400-600 and walked away.

They will probably grow tired of having that m1 inventory tying up money and eventually offer them cheaper. I will say that the one here near me didn't look as good as others I have seen.

I havent touched it, but they have 1 down in Capistrano beach's big-5 that looks like it saw service "In every Clime and place where we could take a gun" to quote The Marines Hymn. I got a rain check for the 89 dollar M-91/30s and saw it and wanted to laugh. pointed it out to the wife how much they were asking and what I paid for mine that is in 3 times as nice a condition
