Does anyone know if the smith&wesson model 29-2 are On the C&R list yet there over 50 years old now

you would think there would be new c&rs on the list every year but i dont think they do it like that i still here they have to be pre 57 or??? someone learn us on how it works.

I don't think BATFE publish the C&R list as a firearm becomes C&R. Maybe they do it every few years, five years or maybe decade? Who knows how they do it. I would think that annual publication would better serve the public but no I guess it cost too much to do it annually.

I think most things automatically become C&R after 50 years, even if not added to the official list. You can write to them and ask for an official ruling.

You are correct, from the ATF website:

Firearms automatically attain C&R status when they are 50 years old. Any firearm that is at least 50 years old, and in its original configuration, would qualify as a C&R firearm. . Therefore, ATF does not generally list firearms in the C&R publication by virtue of their age.

Letter ("N" or maybe "S") & the 1st 4 #'s of the serial number please? You can PM me if you want.

The 29-2 was introduced in 1961 but continued till the 1970's. With a partial SN, hopefully I can pin down an approx. "ship" date.

And if you get the C & R/FFL all those guns can be same day "cash & carry" home - kind of like traveling back in time a bit to when those guns were new.
