Remington Model 11/A5

It looks like I am going to be buying a Remington Model 11 tomorrow
My first John Moses Browning designed gun

It is a 12gauge with a solid rib
I am not sure what choke it is on but I believe it is a Full choke

From the "research" I have been doing on gunbroker it seems that full chokes are pretty common on these guns
Any truth to this??^^

Anything that I need to be aware of with the A5 designed guns?
Any parts that I should replace right off the bat?

Ya those friction rings are critical
I predict this gun in my hands will spend the majority of its life being fed low brass loads

Well I ended up pulling the trigger on it, here are some pictures

I like mine. Mine was issued by San Francisco Civil Defense. Remember you need to push a button to load ammo. And if you ever need to remove the stock there are to screw behind the trigger. ONLY REMOVE ONE. The other holds the sear and is a PITA to put on.

That's a nice one. One drop of oil on the mag tube and wipe it off so the friction collar could drag. Tighten the forearm screw all the way. Keep fingers out of the bolt's path if it's locked back. You could feel the different settings when the butt is on the ground and you push the barrel down. Winchester AA featherlites won't cycle mine unless I remove the brass friction collar.

I've got a December of 1941 Remington Model 11. Your's is in great shape.

I plan to get a beat up, bubba'd one cheap and turn it into a "whippet gun" someday.

got one at the costa mesa show last month a (1947) for 275 in near mint condition...

I just got off the horn with Remington and the kind lady said my Model 11 was made in 1945

I got mine from a friend for $100.Though a Browning clone there are differences. I believe the model 11 has a cushion riveted to the inside ack of the receiver. Inspect and dont shoot it if it is damaged or missing. It is a bolt cushion. Look online for more info
