    CMP Field Grade Garand Arrived

Bought this to be a shooter because I have a SA Correct Grade that stays in back of the safe. Picked up a HRA SG last month as a shooter too.

I am very pleased with the condition considering field grade. Has a Dec 42 SN and a Springfield 10-53 barrel with M-2+ and T-4+ wear. Everything is Springfield with the exception of the bolt which is HRA. Has the Greek blacking of the bolt and not positive on the stock origan. It may be a Greek replacement seeing as there is no coutouche or 'P' markings. There is the no.4 stamped on the bottom of the grip. That's it. So the stock stumps me.. lol....

Anyway, here is some pics. BTW- had to wait about a week longer because the CMP had to uncrate more rifles of all grades.

That is a sweet looking Field Grade. Gotta love the luck-of-the-draw! Tell us how she shoots.
Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pringing ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots.

My guess is that it's a USGI stock and it just got sanded at some point in its life for whatever reason.

Anyway, great score, especially at field grade prices!

Just so you know, that bolt is not "Greek Black". Normal parkerizing comes in various shades including black. Greek Black looks more like a paint that has been baked on. Once you see it, you will know it.
