It doesn't matter what type of ammunition is used if the firearm is manufactured in 1898 or earlier. California uses the Federal definition for antique firearms. The part about using fixed ammunition only applies to replicas of antique firearms.
The old penal code section quoted applies to the carrying of weapons, not acquisition or possession.Comment
