It's also a Griswold & Gunnison confederate model bearing the brass frame and round bbl.
I love the condition as it would be perfect for a CSA re-enactor. If you don't want to buy it, keep me in mind.

It was made in Italy. The mark that has the "U" in the like hexagon is Aldo Uberti S.r.l. The proof mark XXlll is 1967. The other two proof marks on the 3rd and 4th pic from left to right is the provisional Gardone proof, consisting of a star surrounded by eight lands and grooves over a coat of arms featuring a hammer and anvil and crossed bayoneted rifles, the second is star surrounded by eight lands and grooves over the capital letters PN (Gardone V.T. black powder house stamping. It's a "Navy Arms" Dragoon ya got there. It in April of this year I restored the same exact pistol for a customer, except it was made in 1966.

Boy you said it, they are a royal pain. I bought a Remington New Army 1859 I believe. The first time I shot it I was so afraid of chain fire I had grease all over the place and I also learned you need to pinch the caps a bit tighter because the re-coiul blew off all the caps. Then when I was all done I had grease all over my hands and the revolver forget about it. Never have loaded it again. It just hangs on my wall along with it's cousin a 1853 .58 Enfield Muzzle loader.

It's really not a big deal to load and clean and you don't need the grease either. You just load the powder, drop in a Wonder Wad, use a ball of the correct size (at least .454) and you get a good seal on the front. If the caps are falling off you're using the wrong size of cap, although a lot of those Italian guns come with nipples that don't seem to fit the caps available here and a lot of people just swap the nipples out.

Ignorance of not learning on her end. I was going to say earlier to offer her $50 for it but go no higher than $75. At any rate that's to bad, because she will be told by someone else on down the line that it's also a replica.

For that stubbornness and refusing the truth of what it is, asking $800, she'll be stuck with it for a VERY long (forever?) time.

Bummer...with the used condition, it would be a good revolver for a Civil War Southern re-enactor Impression. I'd give $100-125 for it. Oh well, there are others out there.
