It's really not bad at all. I'm 51, wear glasses, and have no problems. You could see them just fine. Trust me.

Ordered from Darrell a couple of days ago. Now the wait is on until he finishes this batch...

No, but latest indication from another member here was early April, so soon. Don't know how many he is making for this batch, so you might want to contact him to ask about that.

I contacted Darrell yesterday, he told me that he had some mounts in stock, and would ship today if I paid today, so it appears he ahs at least a few.

I emailed him, but he atually called me, and we had a nice discussion on the phone. Seems like a nice guy. He was a little freaked out because I sent my email from my work email -- since I am an attorney, I think he was worried that I wanted a sample of his work to try and sue him for patent infringement or something.

I talked to him for a while, I guess I successfully (and truthfully!) convinced him that I really have an M44, and just want a scope mount that works!

So what does Darrel charge for an M44 scout mount?

                Price is $65/$68 (Money-Order/PayPal)!!

It's gone up a little in the past 5 years (inflation). Outlasted the silly NC star though, hehe.

Darrell's mounts are Rock solid. Worked great until someone at the range saw me taking off the broken NC star and offered/gave me $60 (4 years ago).

He has M38/M44 mounts listed in stock so he is selling and shipping those.

I just sent him an email asking about the possible finish and ship dates for M91/30 mounts... Awaiting reply...

email him to find out if they're in stock first, because i've emailed him and he's said they were not and he didn't know when they would be. m38scout@something.... (its on his page).

S&K Instamounts are better, but cost about $80. They have them all the time, they're better quality, and more secure and better looking than Darrells..and they absolutely do not, and cannot budge. They are the only one that secures to the leaf spring cut out with a special flange... Darrell's only attaches to the outside with those brass screws (along with other top down and leaf spring screw holes at the front of the sight housing..which strip for some. But Darrell guarantees his work, and I don't know if he'll guarantee it will not budge (like S&K does), he did say he's only had 3 people who had problems with them.

                    4465 MOSIN NAGANT M44 SCOUT (Will work on M38 also) (S&K Style) $ 79.00

4470 MOSIN NAGANT M44 SCOUT (Will work on M38 also) (Weaver Style) $ 69.00

The S&K model comes with nice proprietary 1" rings for your ncstar 4x32 scope.

Thanks for the update. I should call him, as I need a mount for the M-39. -g

If you want to go the S&K route, you can get them from Brownells much cheaper if you have a dealers account (you can get one with a C&R license). They have two S&K mounts listed for the M44 and one for the M91, dealer priced at $48.30 or $55.30.

Got response back from Darrell, M91/30 mounts are expected to be finished in mid April, so still a bit of wait.

Thought about getting the S&K mounts from Brownells, but the one listed for M91 only has the rings, not the weaver rail. Why wouldn't the one for the M44 fit the M91 rear sight base?

Your comments seem to conflict with what the others said earlier, Darrell's is better than S&K. Confused
