    Another Classic Firearms SKS

Just picked up mine today. Was ordered with hand pick around mid November.

    Observations:
Cosmoline -- lots of Cosmoline. Pictures are after a couple hours of removal.
    1958 /26\
    1951 Tula cover
Matching numbers except for the Tula part
Pretty good metal with most bluing intact.
    Perfect barrel.
    Mismatched upper wood.

Was restocked somewhere, I assume. Maybe never used or issued after restocking. No stock marking I can find. Note the fit-up issue (last picture) where the stock looks like it's too short to go under the forward stock retainer. There's room for it, but then the rear tang on the receiver doesn't fit into the vertical slot on the stock.

Comments welcome. I plan on it just being a shooter unless somebody see something rare or unusual.

Very nice pickup. At least your stock wasn't beat to hell. I did notice the "fit issue" you mentioned I wouldn't worry about it.

The stock fitment could be because the stock appears to be an Albanian beech stock. Does it have 2 cutout holes on the shoulder plate? Overall that is a great looking rifle. The handguard looks like a Tula laminated handguard as well. Definitely a cool rifle.

No, just one hole in the stock and buttplate. Buttplate doesn't match the lip around the end of the stock very well, either.

Very nice, that looks like a million compared to the bucket I held at Turners yesterday.

I dig the Tula topcover. It's not all matching, but the mismatched bits and bobs on it give it some additional character. The laminate upper handguard is an interesting addition as well. Too bad the rest of the stock wasn't a laminate; still it's a lot better than most I've seen!

Nice. Want to trade off that laminate HG for something that matches? I've got a few that are close to your stocks finish. PM me if interested. PAX

Very nice - you got a winner!
