do you get excited as i do over little things you do in this hobby ?. i have been concerned about humidity in my gun cabinet. been looking for a gauge to check it and i have had no luck finding one locally. my co worker said go to pets mart and look in the reptile section. sure enough a nice stick um humidity gauge 5 bucks. so now i can see if i have a moisture problem or not. i am always playing with something related to guns. keeps me going. i enjoy making stuff for my guns almost as much as shooting them.

Whoa! I like my guns but they do not encourage sexual excitement in me. You need a girlfriend.Last edited by Capybara; 12-14-2012, 9:12 PM.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Glad I'm not there yet. Don't like cleaning guns.
The guns that I don't use AKA safe queens are clean. However, I hardly clean my match rifles. They stay "dirty" for a year or more. You do more damage by over cleaning a match rifle than just throwing it back in the safe after a match waiting for the next match. If you shoot non corrosive ammo and clean burning powder and your safe is dry then there should be no concern for corrosion.
IMO, breaking down a well shooting match rifle for cleaning is a bad juju.Comment

Those reptile stick up gauges dont work all that well. I used to breed various pythons and such many many years ago. We would use digital gauges bought from radio shack. They have a wired probe that you can set inside your safe. Used to cost around $25-$50.sigpic

Oh, yeah. I get excited about small things.
Just last month I finally found the proper bayo for one of my k98's. I found a part for a recent project, also, one I'd been searching for (Turk Mauser bolt take down washers--now I need the tube, but since I've not found one, I'll likely make one out of copper tubing). Goes on and on, as I still have a pile of parts, stocks, receivers, and such things...
Fun, all consuming hobby, milsurping.

currently restoring 2 carcanos and just about finished getting my type99 together. it had a chopped-down stock and was missing some metal. got all that now all i need to do is get the front sight on it and done. one carcano almost done, one nowhere close, but it's a fun ride.Comment
