M48 Site similar to the Mosin 7.62x54r.net Site?

    Hi All,
Decided to spring for the M48 mentioned in another thread. Was wondering if/where the mother lode of M48 info is?

    Haven't found one.

Does the M48 get less "love" than the Mosin (have one of those as well)?

Seems like a fairly nice design and build of the design. So I'm wondering why it seems to not get a lot of "air play" as it were.

I felt at home with it rather instantly, but that's just me. Certainly like the Mosin just as much, it's just different. For reference, my all time favorite for full power milsurps is the Garand. But no particular axe to grind with any design. Just trying to learn what I can.

BTW, can anyone point me to info on M48 accessories?

This one is missing the sight hood, but also the cleaning kit and bayonet. Would like to know how to select correct matches for this rifle.

Anyone know if it's possible to date one by the serial #?

i responded to the other thread. i like to swim up stream. the M 48 haters are the same as the mosin haters. i have both and do not care what they say.
i just bought a M1A and some slam it as not a M 14. well springfield armory was sold and somebody else took over production. my 1983 M1A is a civilian legal M 14 in every way. all you must do is your homework and buy what makes you happy. find a nice M 48 and you will be happy. it is a Mauser in every way.

You won't see the same love and interest for M48 as it costs about two to three times as much. People like cheap.

I don't have an M48 yet, but I do have a Turkish Mauser and really love it but I have not seen a "bible" website for Mausers.

Good points. I second the M1A. If it was in budget, the walnut stocked "classic" model or whatever it's called is what I'd really like to have. Well that and about 100 other classic rifles, LOL! Saw an 1886 in .45-70 while was out... sticker price as around 1400 give or take... wanted that one, but kinda out of budget this year.

So anyway, I consider firearms to be a person choice. Granted they are an engineered device, so of course you need to pick the right tool for the job.

Just so happens I'm more attracted to the military patterns than sporter configurations. Though I'll be the first to admit, things like Model 70's, Weatherby's etc. are truly fine machines.
