    Question....

I have a current C&R license; if a purchased a C&R rifle and then gave it a family member is that ok? And how do I annotate that in my C&R book?
Anyone had any experience doing these kind of transactions?

Log the rifle out as a disposal with their info. That easy.

Of course as long as they aren't prohibited.

Just reread your post. With the way you posed the question, it's sounds a little questionable (straw purchase) on an audit depending on receipt/disposal date. Tread carefully

The issue wouldn't be of straw purchase, since the information of the recipient would be logged into the book and the transfer is in accordance to CA laws. The issue would be of using the license beyond the scope of the c&r; to enhancing one's collection. Now, you could probably buy 2 of whatever gun gift one and keep the other, ATF allows for cherry picking.

I cherry pick when I order guns that are picked out of a pile, but I wouldn't order just one gun to gift to someone.
