    Todays money shot

I've been tinkering with this Mosin 1943 91/30 for a year now with about 700 hand loads and just love this rifle. While I'm not a hunter, I could be someday and need to know my cold bore (clean) shot. By memory I knew she shot a couple inches high out of the gate, than needed 5 or so more to tune up. She likes the warmth.

Burro Canyon, 1-2 mile wind, early morning 9:30. Front bag from bench, irons, 200 yrds, aiming 2" low. Hornady interlock .312 150 grain. 47 grains H4895.

Bang, got my first deer....or would have

Grabbed my 30-30 which I bought recently from a Cal gunner ,hand load Hornady FTX 160 grain, 34.8 Grains Leverevolution, aimed 3" low as these babies scream at almost 2400 fps and shoot high in my rifle.

Two shots, two bambi... I was ready to tout !

Next week hope to do it again. Moral of the story..Mosin's rock !

i am not a serious shooter, i am to lazy to do that much work. congrats on the shooting. i just like to shoot bowling pins . if i hit them at 100 yards i am happy. if i was a Fisherman i would have a cain pole, bobber and a worm.
you would have a 50,000 bass boat, radar, sonar and 20 pols rigged up to go. we both have fun shooting our Mosins. thanks or passing on the info. you did good.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Where do you find the 100 yard bowling alley?

Awesome! I did my first serious shooting with my Mosin this weekend. More accurate then I thought it would be, especially considering the milsurp ammo I was using.
Definitely want to get into handloading for this (and my other rifles) ASAP. Sounds like you're pretty happy with that recipe?

I am, I've chronied this round at 2800 fps which is plenty in this old beast. I'm sure the pressures are on the high end as I use a slightly larger diameter bullet than milsurp for my barrel of .313 slugged. I wouldn't want to push it much more, I want this puppy to last my lifetime. While sub MOA isn't an everyday occurrence mostly due to operator error, she can compete with the best off the shelf rifles.
