LPS on the tin is steel core. NNC is lead core. All surplus is bimetal (magnetic)jacketed except for the Yugo. New production Winchester and PPU are non-magnetic. All Russian made commercial Wolf Barnual, etc. are bimetal. You need to know this if you go to a range that has ammo restrictions.

I misspoke........it aint corrosive that is the issue, it is magnetic. Pretty much all surplus is both.........so there are issues.

I shot 200 rounds of Bulgarian Silver Tip I bought from SG Ammo yesterday. It is good ammo, no issues. SG Ammo is my go to for most ammo. I sadly had to order some RWS 9x18 Makarov for my new CZ82 from CTD, I despise CTD, but I couldn't find any other dealer that had the RWS in stock and I want to shoot my new pistol at IVE.
Bulgarian Silver Tip is GTG and very affordable. I am going to order a tin of that 40s Russian though, I want the "real deal" stripper clips, I have heard of a lot of issues with the "fake" new production Mosin stripper clips.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

A good source of information on the various surplus 54R ammo types is the 7.62 Net ammo page. Gives insight into reliability , accuracy, ballistics etc.
