    Bayonet wont fit?

Well i just came back from Turners with my new to me Mosin Nagant! been checking it out. still has a ton of cosmo on it plan on cleaning it all of this weekend. it has Tula markings on it (Star) which i think is pretty cool but my bayonet wont fit? i tried putting it on and it gets stuck to the point where i need a hammer to tap it off. ( dont worry i tap it gently and have a towel over where im hitting).

my question is this. can i fix the bayonet to fit the Mosin or is there a way of getting one that does fit? im kinda a history nerd and would like to fire it and handle it the way they would of when they were using it.

    Where are you located?

They don't always fit. You can dremel the inside and widen it a bit. Or you can ask around if anyone has a stack of bayonets... I have heard of people who *might* have a bucket of them and be willing to let you find one that fits your gun and trade you.

I gave up on mine, it was scratching the barrel trying to get it mounted and I don't have the time or patience to Dremel it. Still have it but the thing is too ridiculously tall as it is, adding the bayonet just makes it ridiculous.

Im located in So Cal outside of Temecula. So do you just grind away at the inside of it till it fits. it seems like it is almost to the front sight where i could turn it and lock it in.

Yeah, unless the zombies attack and you need a brain-pick, the spike bayonet on a Mosin is not very useful...and if the zombies do attack, I'm sure you'll find a way to get it on there.

I always thought that one fixed the bayonet till it binds up, look for a tree and jab it into the trunk and push and turn to lock the bayonet in. Do the reverse for dismount. Jab, turn, pull...

They don't fit because of the heavy refinishing that has been done to many of the rifle barrel exteriors. The goal was to have a tight fit with the bayonet since it was fixed to the rifle at all times and a loose bayonet would rattle and effect accuracy.

Make sure you're wearing full camo before you try it.

                        Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Yeah, once you get it on there you'll have a devil of a time getting it off. I've heard that even with rifles where it goes on with less effort than you're talking about are a real chore to remove, and good luck getting it into your safe with the bayonet fixed!

So if the Bayo is fixed and you want to put it in your safe just take the stock off.ha
