    24/47 Mauser

Does anyone know where I can find a downloadable manual for this rifle? My dad just picked one up but can't seem to find any info on it. He's the kind of guy who reads instruction manuals cover to cover before taking his new toy out of the box, so I know not having any info is killing him.

    Thanks for the help!

I don't know of any online manuals for the Yugoslavian M24/47 specifically, but any of the Mauser disassembly-reassembly guides over on SurplusRifle.com should be close enough.

The one they have for the Czech VZ24 might be closest looking to your father's new rifle, but the VZ24 is built on a standard sized Mauser action while the Yugo M24/47 is built on an intermediate sized Mauser action. SurplusRifle.com also has a disassembly page for the Yugo M48 Mauser, which is also an intermediate Mauser action, but it looks less like the M24/47 than the VZ24 does. The bolt disassembly instructions are the same either way.

He should also check out the Yugoslavian Mauser forums at SurplusRifle and at Parallax Bill's C&R Forums...

There he will find tons of posts about the history, variations and markings of the M24/47 rifle.

It's for the Yugo M48 Mauser, but it's the same. Well, close enough anyway. The M48 has a bent bolt vs the straight bolt on the 24/47. That's really the only difference that matters.

Wow. Thank you both so much. I have a pretty limited understanding of Mausers, and your links were infinitely helpful.

        Thanks again
