    Tube Feed Pistol

This curiosity recently came across my workbench and thought you might find it as interesting as I did. It's a Remington Rider Magazine Pistol, one of two firearms chambered in the uber rare .32 Rimfire Extra Short. The last original full box of 50 that sold at auction brought $1900!
Bad timing for it's introduction, made for a short production time. It was made to replace the two shot derringer, unfortunately about that time, 5 and 6 shot revolvers shooting more powerful rounds, and not much bigger, were too much competition.
This specimen was made circa 1880, holds five shots, valued at $3,500-4,000.

A very interesting old gun. I'm surprised nobody ever made a small rifle that was both cocked and cycled by the hammer alone, as this appears to be, since single action revolvers were so popular around the turn of the century.

There may be other patents dealing with this particular design. This was the only patent I have in my patent database.

So many interesting and curios designs have been tried in the past. I've read about these but never seen one.

        Thanks for sharing some information.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

The front hammer or cocking piece does all the work, the rear hammer does the firing. Kind of like a self loading Remington Rolling block.
In the first post, I mistakenly called this a Remington Elliot, I was researching an Elliot at the same time. This is a Remington Rider, invented by Joseph Rider. Thanks Brink!
Here's a patent drawing showing the ejection.

Good article with pics of the different models:
