    Mosin in jail

Well after reading up on a lot of topics here i decided to take the plunge and pick up a Mosin Nagant at Turners this morning. Playing around with the one at the store it felt solid in my hands and smooth on the bolt. Really looking forward to shooting it in 10 days.

Quick question, any good cheap brands of non magnetic ammo? I go to Iron sights quite a bit and i thought i read somewhere that they wont allow magnetic ammo? anyone have any knowledge of this? I do plan on buying the cheap bulk spam can stuff for my trips to BLM land but would like to shoot it when i go to the range as well

Thanks again for all the info on this site!

    I'm assuming you mean non-magnetic, not non-metallic?

Any chance you can fine a range that lets you shoot the surplus stuff instead? If you are near San Diego, South Bay Rod & Gun club has fantastic ranges and they don't care about magnetic ammo.

$75/yr and you can shoot as much as you want.

Im in the Temecula area. it takes me about 45 mins to get to Iron Sights in Oceanside, and that to me is almost to far for a range trip. San Diego is a little bit longer. But if anyone knows of a range around that let me know!

That's pretty much it for places around you that allow magnetic ammo. I know On Target Indoor range in Laguna Niguel allows it too, but I think that'd be even farther for you than Oceanside.

PSA has soft point Prvi Partizan for $13.75/box + shipping. Depending on how much you buy the price will change a bit. (the more you buy the more you save on shipping)
But you can get 200 rounds shipped for about $150... which is like paying $14.85/box (OTD)

Yeah it sucks paying 75 cents a round for brass cased stuff when surplus is only 17 cents a round, but since you're in so cal you don't have a ton of options.
