    M95 Styer Mannlicher Variants

    Hey guys,

I was thinking about getting a Styer Mannlicher carbine but I don't know what the difference is between the variants. Century currently has M95/34 Carbines, Hungarian M95s, and Austrian M95s. What's the difference between the different rifles and should I get one over the others.

    No difference just different makers.

Fun rifles to shoot and ammo prices is okayish for it.

Prvi partisan makes ammo and so does hornady.

Are any regarded as "better" than the other? Are Austrians better than Hungarians, for example?

Just curious... I know virtually nothing about these...

I'll chime in......the Hungarian-made ones "Budapest") are a little harder to come by, bit other than that, they're about the same in quality. They were all well-made rifles/carbines. Ammo is not as cheap or plentiful as 7.62 x 54R or even 8mm.

You should begin learning about them by learning the name: Steyr.

Sigman is right. The ammo is not cheap.

They are fun to shoot. I have a carbine.

The Mannlicher bolt is a superb design and an important part of firearm history. In fact, it was a toss-up between his design and the Mauser brothers for what would become the most dominant bolt action military rifle in Europe. The Mauser won mostly due to logistics.

There is a difference, some were originally long rifles, some were always carbines. Can't remember which is which though. GOEX FFF knows a bit about M95s, he'd be the one to talk to.

I have one, love the straight pull bolt on it, haven't bought any ammo yet. That $1.50 per round price makes me cringe, darn Mosin has spoiled me.
