    1956 SKS

found out my turners SKS is a first year [ 1956 ] factory 26 rifle .pn # 167208. the wood is beater but the metal is very, very nice indeed. late 1956 SKSs used 6 digits. not bad for 249 retail.

the more you learn the more you do not know. i was looking at my SKS ser # and realized their was a # 3 stamped in the receiver 6 digit ser #.3167208. on everything else it is 6 digit 167208 ???. i think that 3 stands for 3,000,000 production #. i saw a chart that says you put the first # plus 1956 to get the year production #. so 3+ 1956 means 1959 on my rifle not 1956. so all the other ser #s are 6 digit except the receiver. has somebody else seen these #s on their factory 26 SKS ?

You nailed it. 7 digits on side of receiver and everything else is the last 6 digits.

With all due respect, it is not right to prattle on about all your nice rifles and never post any pictures of any of them.

YES! a NO PRATTLING ZONE would be appropriate here
It would be allowed if photos were posted though
My last SKS from J&G was serial like yours Notabiker, the first SKS was 6 digits only.

Take pics with camera. Plug camera into computer. click next 2,3 times it will load pics to comp semi auto-
Go to photobucket.com sign up like you did here
Find banner on photobucket that says "upload photos"
It will be easier to find then "curios and relics".
Photobucket will automatically find your pics (no searching and computer wizardry the comp does it all for you.
Once pics are on photobucket hold your mouse over them a window will open with weird looking links. Move mouse to bottom link copy the link and past it to your post. DONE!

i was at my family thanksgiving party and not one person their has ever posted a pic on a computer site. they use computers a lot but never have posted a pic and did not think they ever will. i am sure it is simple if you do it. one time my wife posted some pics of my motorcycle on a motorcycle site and after 2 hrs she was about to leave me. something about to many somethings in the picture and it needed to be down sized etc. major pain. thanks for trying to help the helpless. my rifles are nice looking but nothing special except to me.
