Yet Another YUGO SKS 59/66 and C&R

Ok- We have been all over the place on this one.

Q- Can I purchase with C&R (gunbroker) a YUGO M59/66 that has a FIXED magazine and an installed muzzle break? I get the fixed mag, but there is discussion on removing the grenade launcher and what that does to C&R status

Q- If yes, can it be shipped into California or does it need to be picked up out of state and brought back? If I can't ship it here with my C&R, then why not?

    Thanks

It has to be 50 years old to ship to bypass DROS in California.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

      Yes.
Under CA laws, the grenade launcher is a DD and illegal to import/possess without having a Dangerous Weapons Permit for a DD.
Per BATFE, removing the grenade launcher does not affect it's C&R status.

It can be shipped to a CA FFL dealer, where you will 4473/DROS + 10 day wait it. If you have a C&R FFL + COE, you are exmept from the 10 day wait.
Because they are less than 50 years old, they can not be shipped directly to you.

If you have a C&R FFL, you can legally go out of state and acquire it and bring it back.

Is there a way to prove date? The one I am looking at (ZASTAVA SERBIA) is being advertised as C&R and OVER 50 years old.

Zastava Model 59/66 were manufactured from 1967-1989.
Therefore, there are no M59/66 that are 50 or more years old.

Zastava Model 59 were manufactured from 1959-1966.
Therefore, most M59 are 50 or more years old.

The difference between teh M59 and M59/66 is:
M59 is akin to a standard Soviet SKS type rifle.
M59/66 incorporates a grenade launcher, grenade launcher sights and gas cut off.

Thanks- I just PM'ed the seller asking him how he can prove that a 59/66 is over 50 years old. This should be good.....

Get the serial number range (letter prefix + numbers).

Strangely, M59 production didn't really ramp up until 1964, so most M59s are still under 50 years old.

The E prefix is from 1968.
