with the mosin & SKS frenzy going on do not overlook all the nice serb M 48 and M 24-47s on the surplus market. that will for sure dry up . a never sold surplus rifle and a gun show- pawn shop rifle are not the same experience.

Im not to worried about the second best Mausers lol I've never owned an M48 or a 24/47, And i dont plan to, im more of a traditional German Mauser guy myself. Although lol i do have my eyes set on a G33/40
!!WANT TO BUY and looking for shooter/beater/reenacting grade German Waffen proofed handguns from the WWII era. I just want shooters, Im not looking to spend oodles of money, I just want shootable examples to play with!!

well now the m-48 is the final design of the Mauser platform. it was not made under war time stress in labor or materials. i have never herd one complaint in workmanship and materials. the tooling is German or FN. i think my 1950 first series all machined M-48 is better than your historic war time or capture K 98k.
i would not defend my position except you did get a little uppity about your sacred other Mausers. i got one Mauser just to say i have one and like it. i like my Mosins much better though.Comment

I agree. Mausers are excellent rifles. I have one made in Transylvania. I want to cast a silver bullet for it... ;-)

you can get a nice Mauser m- 48 at big 5 for 299 all day long. on sale i got mine for 240 bucks.all matching, nice wood and metal. i shot it and it is a nice rifle.
on black friday you might get one for less than 240. . some people like the pre war serb M 24-47 better. if you just want a well made shooter you cant go wrong with a M-48 Mauser.Comment

Good place to start at 7.62X39. Very good and detailed book on the Serb Mausers.
I got nothing but good things to say on the m48s and m24/47. Excellent built rifles and tack drivers. For their price can't go wrong.Comment
