K98 Range report with Cast

First time loading cast in a rifle:
I think it went pretty well, shot at 50yds.
Barrel was sparkeling clean before I started.
Shot one fouling round of FMJ, then proceeded.
Lee 175GC, 2400, WLR, Privi 1X, OCL 2.830
16.0, 16.5, 17.0

16.0 did not seal the case, 16.5 sealed fair and 17.0 sealed the case.
I adjusted the sights so I could use the same target
16.0 I had a flyer, don't know why ? 1.26 without flyer.
16.5 did better @ .90 and 17.0 even better @ .84

My only issue is leading, I got lead streaks all the way up.
Ran the bore brush with Butches about 10 strokes and still lead streaks in the grooves.

yea very nice shooting hylander!!! Some good loads you did there.

As for the lead streaks, ehh...try some windex with ammonia? Works with removing some harden sodium from surplus ammo might work with lead? Give it a try

I have heard that tapping fluid for aluminum will be efficient at loosening lead pronto. Worthwhile to have on the shelf in the gun room IMO.

automatic trans fluid is supposed to work well on lead fouling.

What kind of casting alloy and bullet lube are you using? Did you slug your bore to make sure your boolits are properly sized?

Shooting lead in my pistols I do 3 rounds of FMj at the end of the session and I'm a OK.

some guys say it just smears lead but I haven't found that to be the case. maybe they know something I don't so I mention it.

liquid lead removers ehh never seemed that great. I really like the lead removing cloth that's kinda sticky you cut patches from.

also surefire way to get it clean is slug the barrel and do the Dougie. OK well dancing is optional but a fishing weight egg shaped and hollow gets out bad leading in a jiff.
