nice black powder surprise at the Bay Area Gun Vault

I have been in the market for ... well, like everybody, I'm in the market for a lot of things..."but I digress..."

Stopped into the Bay Area Gun Vault today and they had a couple of black powder guns in the consignment case, including a nice looking Ruger New Old Army (blued). I have been on the lookout for a stainless one since right before they were discontinued in 2008 or so.

Upon closer inspection, the tag said "comes with box of goodies". Oh, and the original Ruger box, too. Price was $425 (more or less in line with what they go for on auction sites) so I bought it.

The "goodies" box contained:

• .457 speer round balls (~40 or so left)
• bottle of Hoppes #9
• 1 lb bottle of triple 7
• 1 box of pyrodex pellets
• three different cleaning jags (unopened)
• 4 tins of #11 magnum caps (CCI)
• power spout
• giant bag of patches

...I fished around but could not find the nipple wrench at the store, but found it was inside the factory ruger box after all when I got home. The revolver itself is in nearly-pristine condition - just some wear on the recoil shield.

Happy day!! Looking forward to a smoky day at the range soon....

Those are good revolvers. Congratulations and enjoy it!

Barrel length is 7.5"; serial number dates the gun to 1998. The trigger pull is nicer than the one on my Blackhawk from the same period....

Eta: the gun has adjustable rear sights and yeah, it is always nice to cash and carry (I have a c&r and Coe so I know the feeling well.)

Trashman,
Bring it out from 9am to 3pm this coming Sunday to Chabot at range 5. We don't have a 15 minute firing period and we have steel knock down targets (in the shape of animals) and hanging gongs/clays at 50 yards. Oops! and less than 50 yards of course.
