Need help closing a C&R deal

I just bought a french mas -45 22lr trainer rifle on gunbroker last night. They seller is cool and just want to make sure he can ship to me. I have a C&R license. I can't find any links on the DOJ website showing me the law. He just wants a copy for his records. Anything will be appreciated Thanks Johnathan

Does the seller have an FFL?

Does he acknowledge the rifle is a C&R? If I recall, they only made them for a few years, so they should all be C&R by age.

Dennis at Empire arms has a whole page devoted to selling C&Rs to Californians.

I've bought many C$R long guns from out of state and only occasionally have I had a problem with a dealer not wanting to sell to a California resident. When I have, it almost always involves the California Firearms License Check System. When I do have a problem, I send a polite email, thusly worded...

      Linda,

Here are some links to the California Department of Justice Firearms Division website that documents that the California Firearms Licensee Check (CFLC) system does not apply to C&R long gun transactions.

http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/cflcoverview.php (states in the first paragraph "other than 03 and 06 FFL's")

http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/cflcfaqs.php (question #4 in the FAQ's asks if any California FFL's are exempt from the new law and answer is "Yes. The CFLC program does not apply to FFLs with Type 03 (curio and relic collectors) and Type 06 (ammunition dealers) licenses.")

http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/infobuls/2008-BOF-05.pdf (bulletin issued explaining new program. first paragraph states "information contained herein does not apply to type 03 (curio and relic) and type 06 FFL's)

If you are still concerned about this matter, I would be happy to provide you with a letter of assurance that the CFLC system does not apply to Curio and Relic long gun transactions

      Steve

I have never been turned down after sending this email.

Does the seller's hesitancy have anything to do with the CFLC system?
...a fool and his money were lucky to get together in the first place...
