    Egyptian Hakim

On the right side it says, 7.92mm made in Egypt. On the left side, it has stamped 1111, one line down, 011.1, one line down in hand engraved numbers,
51907 or 51904 and Egyptian writing. How do I find the date to see if I can sell it face to face?

HAKIM Survey Results. Serial numbers and year. Results below. Help by adding yours. Arabic to English number translation below. Results so far!! (12-14-16) 377 complete rifles!! 7 parts receivers!! The #'s that start with an "A" are parts receivers only and did not have any Arabic S/N...

    Check post #17.

If you are selling your Hakim check that the gas regulator is not frozen. Many need to be soaked with penetrating oil & broken loose. If the plastic aftermarket adjustment tool will not move it, then it's frozen. A steel tool will be required to break it free. Many Hakim's have bad extractors also. MG-13 mags are a cheap & easy mod for extra firepower, or a missing original mag.

There is a "Middle Eastern Guns" forum on www.gunboards.com/forums that has many discussions of Hakims and how to fix them, etc. Somebody over there could very likely tell you if your rifle is C&R qualified. Good luck with it!

The four Arabic numerals on the side should be the date. Mine looked like it said 1970, but it was actually 1965, not old enough for cash and carry. Scroll down about half way on this link for Arabic numbers.

Here is a pic to illustrate how to decipher the date on a Hakim. The top number is the year of manufacture (1959) in this case and the bottom number is the serial number (249) in this case. Use the translation chart below to decipher Arabic into English numbers.

Thank you for your comments and help. Looks like mine is a 1969. If I decide to sell, I guess I have to go through an ffl. Thanks again.

You can make the tool from a 6-point 1/4" socket. Just use a Dremel to cut a notch 1/8" wide and 3/16" deep in one wall of the socket like in the pic below.

If his gas adjuster is frozen like many long unfired/unmaintained Hakim's are, using that makeshift tool will mar up the soft triangle gas adjuster if too much force is used. It's best to use the plastic or steel triangular tool made to precisely fit, if you are not sure it's frozen or not. A normal unfrozen gas adjuster will not require more force than what you can do with your finger tips on the tool like the red/orange plastic one. If you have to use a wrench or something, the gas adjuster is frozen.
