Dehumidifier and Gun Oil for long term storage

Are these humidifiers any good for gun safes and closets for long term gun storage?

Also, please let me know which gun oil is good for long term storage, right now i am just using Hoppes oil.

    thanks

They work ok. If there is a plug nearby get a rod type like the goldenrod. You just plug it in and never have to touch it.

The link is for a dehumidifier. You want your guns in a dry space; not a humid one.

I already have a rod in my safe, also considering the dehumidifier. Do you need both or just Rod will suffice?

I am sorry i meant dehumidifier:-)

          thanks

Just the rod is fine if its sized right for the safe. You don't need both.

Define long term. If we are talking decades, I would pack them in grease. Otherwise, a good coating of gun oil every few years will be fine. Brake-free makes a version called "collector" designed for storage.

I have some WWII guns, like P38s i will never shoot, they are safe queens :-)

Hoppes Oil is evaporating in a month or so.

                thanks

Use EEZOX and don't look back.

Use your Googlefu and see what people think about it.

I use DAX wax. Not ****ting ya..its a petroleum based hair wax...i rub it all over the metal and wood and it create a cosmoline-like film that keeps all moisture off. Doesn't drip..doesn't go anywhere. Preserves the wood nice. I have a shotgun thats 20 years old with a coat of it on I put on in 92' and looks brand new. Plus it smells nice.

                          Walmart Marine Grease.

Great for Garands and Glock rails and connecting rods too.

Push a patch-full down the bore and wipe down all the metal w/ a loaded rag.

Will out-last King Tut and cleans off easy w/ either solvent/CLP/spirits.

Also helps break down copper fouling.

$5 bucks for a near lifetime supply.

Renaissance wax, thin film for long term storage. You could also wrap in wax paper.
