i thought this press was only for hand gun cartridges?
    and short rifle cartridges?

43 mauser is a big cartridge. shoots a 11mm round.

    will look into this.

Lee makes the Lee Loader and the Handpress, and Lyman makes the 310 Loader, and neither makes dies in .43 Mauser that I could find. A quick search, and it looks like a standard set of dies, are a special order from RCBS.

I'm familiar with the cartridge, and I don't see why the Lee Hand Press wouldn't work. Might just take a little more "ummph" to size cases.

I haven't read anything that these presses are limited to certain calibers. But then again, I've never used the Lee Hand Press myself.

Also, Lee makes a 43 Mauser die set -

It's also known that Lee's 43 Mauser case holder is garbage and can easily break being machined too thin for the large 11mm rim. So best to get the stronger RCBS case holder if you don't already have one.

packnrat, The Lee hand press will use those dies. Get some Trailboss powder, some cast .445-.447 boolits, brass from Grafs or Buffalo Arms, and you're good to go.

If you find an extra trigger guard for a model 71 let me know. I have one but for some reason the trigger guard is missing.

I had a bench style press set up on a 2x6 for a while. I could use C clamps to stick it to the bedrail of my truck, or the tailgate, for last minute range loading.

just finding a 1871 is hard enough. but parts, and ammo.
will keep a eye open. big reno gun show is coming soon. at least not till i get some cash. might have some luck there.

i would not mind having some spare parts my self.
can have a hard time not tripping over all the "black" rifle stuff. but the older guns, are dig through the junk bins. but i am a scrounge and like to dig.

pending what happens in the last part of this year i might be ale to do a trip back east (in 2014). tons of new (to me) junk bins to dig through.

good thinking...sad no pu-truck right now.

the jerk that hit me was doing 95 mph. the lft front rim was coming throught the floor, rammed the break peddle to the dash. (my rt foot was on it).
                    lucky to be here.
