Why dont you see AK's out at the Chabot silhouette rifle match?

Can it be they are not accurate over 50/100 yards?

I have seen lots of groups shot much larger then a pie plate.

Are there parts/rivets falling off of them? We usually have tools available at the match for minor repairs but bring your own rivet equip.

Can all the canted front sights not allow them to adjust the sights over enough to sight in at 200 yards.

We dont shoot rapid fire so incorrectly installed gas block and cycling problems are not an issue, we single load.

I have seen video's where with proper sights they can shoot 1.5 MOA and that is competitive in our sport.

My cast bullet guns can just barely shoot 1.5MOA at 200 yards.

    !!!

Everyone knows all AK's are sub MOA sniper rifles disguised as sloppily built homemade "choppers" .....

Yeah I have seen some good AK shoots some nice 1.5-2 inc MOA at hundred yards using Yugo surplus. Don't knock the AKs they cant shoot good and scare the hell out of you at less than 300 yards.

Given the chance I'd shoot one.

Hmm, I should see if I can borrow one or maybe even an SKS for next time.

After all, I brought my Mosin carbine. It shot fine, but I didn't because I wasn't mentally focused on the task at hand.

Yugo surplus M-67 ball is nice stuff! (Just like its big brother, the M-30 ball). Also, M-67 bullet has better wounding characteristics than the Soviet M-43 bullet).

The real question is why is this in the c&R forum?

because AK-47 is older than 50 years...and to be technical is a modified version of the mp/stg 44 and the SKS family as well...just my two cents.

The featured rifle class at Chabot are C&R a lot of times...don't recall ever hearing about a featured rifle that wasn't C&R, but I could be mistaken. I haven't been to this match since the beginning of 2012. One month is Swede Mausers, next may be some 8mm Mauser variant, etc. In a 20 shot match, shot twice for 40 shots, guys will often shoot the featured rifle and then their normal, scoped silhouette rifle.

Sorry about that chaps. I keep thinking ak-47s are not c&R but they are older than 50 years old. Im so confused with all these laws.

I'd say rifles in general always have an edge on carbines? Not everytime but in general. Now if you had to lug that 10lbs rifle over the course of a few days carrying ammo and other gear and I was next to you with my 30 cal Ak that weighed almost half your rifle and I had lighter weight ammo you would think twice about ur tank lol. Clearing rooms would be fun for you lol. The polish archer has been out a while I wonder how it's doing.

funny to hear the mosin haters defend the AK. in fact, just kinda strange...but i agree, the AK in my book definitely is a c&r, despite what our "betters" have decided is the case. it is no doubt a timeless design which has been copied, modified, etc....for over half a century and is still being used and produced all across the world. let's face it, the only AR's that work use AK-type gas systems. the rest are garbage like they've always been.

Canted sights suck after 400 yards.
