    Looking for a Mosin 91/30

Well I finally decided to get a Mosin 91/30, I mean they are only $89. I looked at J&G Sales and Classic Arms and they are now selling them for $99. AIM Surplus has them listed for $89 but they say they are sold out.

Anyone know of any place that is still selling them for $89? Or is the best price $99 now? Thanks...

$99 plus shipping? Do you have a C & R FFL? If not it will need to go through a FFL first. After transfer fee's and taxes collected by the FFL, you'd be better off getting one at Turners. $129

Check the sales at Big 5, thats where I got mine and had 2 other friends also get theirs. They go on sale for $99 bucks and there is then no shipping or FFL fees etc.

better than just watch Big5 ads, talk to manager when

he ain't busy and he SHOULD tell you when their next shipment and sale is gonna be.

Tell him you wanna buy at least 2 Mosins(cause you do) and at least one other gun at same time to save on DROS(cause you do).

Be ready form him to call your bluff and start pulling Mosins out of the back room and announce a "manager's special" sale on the spot. That is NOT the time to say "I'll think about it" although he might put 24 hr hold on guns if you just gotta raise cash, but better to be ready to buy on spot.

Guys, I have a FFL 03, so I can avoid the DROS and have it shipped to my house. So I can do that cheaper than going to Big 5. Although maybe the shipping for 2 guns might be about as much as the DROS for 2. I'll look into that.

i go tmine at turners for 99$ so if you can get it cheaper than that, go for it, but avoid Big 5, they charge WAY too much for a 91/30.

I'm located around Ocnsd area just north of San Diego. Is the best price for them $99? Just a month ago I thought they were going for $89.

Here's another reason to go to Big 5 besides the fact that they regularly have Mosins on sale:

You can visually inspect the rifles before purchase and pick the best one. This gives you the chance to look at the rifling, look for counterboring, do the "308 test", look for rust, check the bolt for easy (for a Mosin) bolt operation, etc.

A note about counterboring. There are folks on here who say that counterboring isn't a bad thing for accuracy and precision, and they're right. When it's been done, it's been done by the Ishevsk or Tula factories themselves during the arsenal refurb, and counterbored rifles generally shoot just fine. However, it does prevent you from effectively doing the "308 test", which is the primary reason I tend to avoid them.

I bought a Laminated Stock Mosin from Centerfire Systems and it was about $120 shipped to my house. Other than being force matched with electropencil it is in fantastic condition with a lovely stock and slick action.

i have been lucky buying mosins from big 5. not a single one had rust, pitting of the metal or stock condition problems. a couple have stiff bolt action but that is pretty much a MN thing. they all shoot well and have nothing wrong with them.
