My Newly Arrived HRA SG W/ Tung Oil Worked Stock

I finally got around to putting a few applications on the CMP stock that came with my HRA SG fromt he CMP.

Sanded, applied tung oil by hand, sanded again, repeat. I waited 24 hours between applications as it the wood would darken over time.

Think I will leave it here.

That sure looks like a beauty! Now, when you "ding" that furniture, you are going to cringe. I know I would. Nice work.

Nice work! Is that the dreaded "Greek black" finish on the receiver? If the chamber is black then it is. Still a beauty though.

Looks great, but you really shouldn't throw it up in the air like that.

My one and only all birchwood Garand, direct from arsenal rebuild, storage then to me via the CMP. MW<1 TE<1. This has been a closet queen for almost 10 years and I finally got around to shooting for the first time a couple months ago. Wow! Like falling in love all over again! Reminded me of why I used to shoot Garands!

The birchwood was very desirable to some folks, they liked the tiger striped grain and "orangish hue" to the wood, once they figured out that staining/darkening them didn't work too well.

OP, beautiful riflestock there. Nice work.

Aghauler, agreed with the tiger-striping; that, too, looks very nice.

Chamber is green? Never seen a green chamber before. Take a pic of the chamber and I bet its either in the white or black (Greek).

Not the chamber which is in the white, the exterior park job is green. The receiver, the op rod, the bolt and the magazine follower parts are all green.
